The political situation in Andhra (please don't object to my use of Andhra for Andhra Pradesh) is as spicy as its famous pickle Avakai. Matinee idol Nandamuri Balakrishna aka Balayya has made his political arangetrum in a grand filmy style at the just concluded Yuvagarjana (meaning the roar of youth).

Unlike his father, the great Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, Balakrishna is not a great orator. Though he carries the grace of his father, he hasn't been able to utilize it to the max. It's not fair to compare him with NTR, but of late, Balakrishna has downgraded himself by doing a lot of crap movies. Nonetheless, he has a huge fan following in villages and towns.

The sudden entry of Nandamuri clan in support of Telugu Desam Party is an attempt to lift the sagging spirits of the party workers after Chiranjeevi started Praja Rajyam party. As expected, none of the Nandmuri tribe members accepts this and retorts that they are here to serve the party started by NTR and make his dreams come true. Acha! These are the same people who ditched NTR a decade ago.

It all started with Chandra Babu Naidu's (CBN) son and Balayya's daughter marriage in 2007. Since then, it's all been Nandamuri's show. With his close associate Devendar Goud too joining the Telangana bandwagon and Chiranjeevi factor looming large, CBN had no option but to fight glamor with glamor. Hence, he tried to be a mediator to mitigate differences among the Nandamuri family members, especially between NTR Jnr. and others. Currently, NTR Jnr. has more following than any other Nandamuri heros, after his grandfather. However, a rift over allocation of party ticket to his close associate has made NTR Jnr. skip the maha Yuvagarjana.

Coming back to today's public meeting in Guntur, more than 10 lakh people attended it making it the biggest public meeting ever in India (as claimed by TDP). Everyone was uncertain over Balayya's ability as a public speaker due to his notorious past. But today, Balayya was close to his best. I forgot to mention that Balayya has got great voice and is famous for rendering heavy and lengthy dialogs in films.

He was successful in delivering what was expected of him by CBN and his fans. Ably supported by Harikrishna, who would walk past him to give the leads of the next topic to be covered, Balayya covered all the burning problems. Accidentally, he blamed the Congress government (state govt.) for the loss of software jobs while eulogising CBN for sowing the software seed in the state.

On the whole, it was a pretty successful and morale boosting session for TDP and would help in posing new challenges to Congress and Chiranjeevi. Yummy, the political scenario is getting spicier. I'm loving it!

PS: Balayya looks awesome on the hoardings and flexi boards.

Lot of things have happened during the last two weeks while I was toiling for a piece of land (with house) in Hyderabad, errrrrr.... in a village far off from Greater Hyderabad. Some of them I feel worth noting are:

1. Devendar Goud ditched Chandra Babu Naidu and started his own party in support of Telangana. The trend of pro-Telangana seems to be catching like the fad of sporting like long and straight hair.

2. Dr. Rajashekar, the lesser known Telugu actor (imported from Tamil Nadu), has grown up from being the angry young man of Tollywood to 'Maha Star'. He is trying to take on Mega Star Chiru.

3. RBI has increased interest rates. Bull shit, seems someone in the RBI is not happy with me purchasing house.

Importantly, there are only 6 days left in June 2008.

I wish the Megastar of Telugu cinema and one of the most influential persons in Indian cinema all the very best on completing 30 years in the cinema industry. His was initially tagged as Dynamic Hero and was later promoted to Supreme Hero after a couple of movies, and finally was crowned the MEGASTAR.

Chiranjeevi is the first hero for many include me. In fact, I have been imitating most of his styles while dancing to his songs on several occasion.

He has brought many firsts to Indian cinema. Dance is the first thing that comes to everyone's mind. The ease, the grace and the style he brings to each step is awesome. Most big heroes in India lack this; though this is not the skill required to be called a hero but yes an important component.

Next is his style. Gangleader is perhaps his best film on all fronts (even the image here is from the same film). No hero can boast of a song such as the title song of this film. Another title song in Kodamasimham too is a standout song. His comedy timing too is impeccable and is imitated by many modern day stars.

Even his flop films collect more than a number of hit films in other languages. Though he currently is going through a lean patch, he is sure to bounce back.

Personally too, he is said to be very affable and very down to earth. Though things have not been going his way since mid 2007, he has endured them with patience and set example for many of us.

On this special occasion, I wish Dr.Padmabhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi all the very best.

As his opinion fully matches with mine, I didn't take pains to write again.

Dear Dr. Rajsekhar:

This letter is with reference to the recent happenings that have caused quite a stir in the media. I extend my sympathies to you and your family and hope everything is fine with your family members.

The Indian constitution endows to its every citizen a fundamental right called the "freedom of speech". This means every Indian citizen has freedom to speak his mind. It is unfortunate to see this right is being manipulated in a docile way to vent out frustration on someone who has been blessed with bigger things in life.

Before the attack

You had mentioned in your press conference that Chiranjeevi does not possess any experience in politics and that is the reason why you don’t want to join him.

Yes, you are 100% right? Chiranjeevi does not have any experience in politics so far. My question to you is - what prior political experience did NTR possess when he first announced his entry into Andhra politics 25 years back? None!!! For everything there is a first-time. It is very amusing that you did not think of this before commenting on Chiranjeevi.

After the Attack

After the attack you had mentioned that Chiranjeevi should take the ownership for the attack made by his fans. Let us apply some common-sense. You comment on someone and the next day you are attacked - who gets blamed? It is possible that the assailants could have been opportunists who may have attacked you to malign Chiranjeevi and his fans from a circumstantial evidence perspective. It is also possible that they were indeed some hardcore fans of Chiranjeevi who could not bear someone commenting on their favourite hero.

In any event, Chiranjeevi was magnanimous in promptly reaching your place, apologizing, comforting your family and taking accountability for the entire fiasco. He also condemned the attacks and admonished the miscreants.

During one of your media outbursts, you mentioned that Chiranjeevi should control his fans. Kindly suggest to Chiranjeevi how he can control millions and millions of his fans who treat him next to god and their parents? Recently some of your fans burnt the effigies of Chiranjeevi. Will you take accountability and apologize to Chiranjeevi and his fans for the incident?

I totally agree that the attack on you and your family is unfair; but your behaviour after Chiranjeevi has conscientiously apologized is portraying you as a person who is trying to garner sympathy and get even with Chiranjeevi for some past professional defeats you endured in his hands.

"To err is human, to forgive divine" - apologizing for a mistake that is not yours is being noble.

On behalf of Chiranjeevi fans, I wish you and your family well.

A die hard fan of Megastar Chiranjeevi unto death

This is continuation of my earlier post on Chiru and his entry into politics. It will be a mistake to say that Chiru will change Andhra Pradesh in a jiffy, if he wins the next elections.

I only say that we need some one who has a clean image (leave alone his family matters) and has been involved in giving something for the society which has given him the status, money and power to come to power. Couple of reasons and extended thoughts on why Chiru's entry is important

1. As said a good human being with a penchant for service. He already has enough money and so I think (but not sure) money is not the motivating factor for him to enter politics.

But not sure how will he be after joining the politics.

2. Through his loyal fans, who made his blood and eye banks huge success, he can achieve his ambition or take his initiatives closer to people better than normal political parties.

As to some comments on my friend's blog, the future of Chiru's son is more secured than Akshayee Khanna, Bobby Deol, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhadeen Khan, etc. His daughter episode is history now. As far as Chiru is concerned, it is too early for him to call it a day.

This said, it is important for Chiru not to follow the footsteps of late NTR who started with a bang and over a period of time became one among the many filthy politicians.

However, it would be better if Chiru decides to partner with a meaningful party like Lok Satta.

This is a good news for millions of people, include the write too.

Personally, I have been waiting for someone with a macho image to enter the world of dirty politics, atleast in Andhra Pradesh which has been under the clutches of two caste-based selfish political parties during the last two decades.

The signals from our Megastar camp indicating the floating a new political party has
certainly created ripples across entire Andhra Pradesh. Padmabhusan Megastar Chiranjeevi's larger than life image on screen, massisive fan following (I presume more than half of AP which is around 5 crores along with his fellow caste members) and the command he has over the Telugu film industry, will definitely attract the votes of masses.

Closely observing the mood of people across Andhra Pradesh, it is clear that they are vexed with the current govt for obvious reasons. In this situation, Chiranjeevi, who already has shown his inclination to do something for the society (for whatever reasons), has given a fresh lease of life to the boring and mundane politics.

If everything goes well, he might well become the next CM. Already, there are some politicians from the TDP and Congress willing to join Chiru's party. Rajashekar Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu are under tremendous pressure as they are sure the Chiru wave will certainly throw them to distant shores.

However, this said, I would love him to guide the party and continue to mesmerize us
through his screen presence.
