FOBs - For Whom?
We love to be brave and we rarely come across people who are really brave. However, you can see them daily, in fact each and every time you go out on the main roads of Hyderabad. I am talking about none other than some citizens of Hyderabad who cross the roads happily ignoring the foot over bridges which are a few meters away.
I sometimes wonder why people take such risks (perhaps to test the credibility of their Insurance Provider). I was very happy when the govt. announced the construction of FOBs in and around the City. But the joy was short-lived. I daily see a number of people carelessly and nonchalantly crossing the roads without caring for the vehicle owners who often are under immense pressure from their colleagues - fellow vehicle owners. Though physically alright, these people try out the tough way to cross the road. They take pain in climbing up and coming down the elevated divider and maneuver through the zooming traffic twice to cross the road (under the FOBs) but never bother to use the arch. Of course, there are still a number of good citizens who respect the FOBs and use them.
We are like this only.

And then we have people who crib about government not doing anything about the accidents happening. The problem is much wider and is visible in the lack of driving sense that prevails among everyone plying their vehicles on the road, whether it be the daredevil autowallah or the educated illiterates who drive high-market vehicles.
