Power Politics

Finally, Karnataka comes under President's rule. The last few weeks witnessed display of filthy politics for power by Kumaraswamy. Kumaraswamy behaved as a kid and was ably supported by Deve Gowda, who is adept in sleeping during public meetings and gatherings. The BJP had no option but to withdraw support. Both the parties have no regards for the huge amount of public money that will be wasted for fresh elections.

The funniest part was given in the Hindu

"Mr. Gowda said that during the interim period (until Parliament approves the dissolution of the Assembly), it should be ensured that there was no “horse-trading.” The period should not be misused to enable any party to venture into forming a government.

He said: “I hope and trust that the highest constitutional values shall be maintained and the spirit of democracy kept alive. It should also be ensured that people’s mandate is obtained at the earliest possible time.”

It will be a fitting lesson to all the political parties if the president's rule is imposed in the state for the remaining period. But this is democratic India and politicians rule.
