Ullasangaa.. Utsaahangaa
Music maestro A R Rahman's nephew GV Prakash, in his first attempt in Telugu, comes up with a scintillating and mind blowing album in the form of Ullasanga Utsaahangaa. The orchestra and the background music simply rock. In fact, each song competes with its companions in the album to vie for listeners' attention. The selection of singers is spot on by the 22-year old.
Ullasangaa Utasaahangaa: The title song can remind us of A R Rahman's Urvasi Urvasi in Premikudu, especially while listening to the chorus. The background music seems to dominate the rendition, nonetheless a youthful peppy number.
Dhannale Thalle: Sung by Rahul Nambiar, the song has strong influence of remix albums in terms of orchestration. Fine lyrics and brilliant music definitely attracts the listener after a couple of hearings.
Naa Prema : A slow senti number which will appeal to people who like listening to soothing numbers.
Lalipata : Sibling of the third number, which I usually skip listening to.
Priyatama : It's been a long time since Sonu Nigam sang a Telugu song. Supported ably by Rahul Nambiar, this could have easily been the best song, but for the next two numbers. Sonu Nigam is simply brilliant and at ease rendering this lovely, melody song. Is sure to attract everyone just after first listening. In short, the song has got everything to make it big to someone's list of all time favorites.
Mata Matiki : A special mention to the singer, especially the lady Synora, who is energetic and she sounds really different. The funky song is sure to attract young audience right from the word go. I love this song too. The humming during the second half of the song is too good.
Chakori : Rendered by Vasundhara das and Benny, the song and Vasundhara's voice get better and better as the song progresses. Fast number which will be effective if picturized using a bike and fast camera work.
GV Prakash definitely has got a great career, but there have been music directors who started off on a grand note but ended up being one film wonders. Hope it doesn't happen here, at least for my sake. Great going Prakash. All the best!
