shocKING - Movie Review
Taking public for granted (Rating 1.5/5)
Nagarjuna's King is certainly the worst movie I have seen this year. The director seems to have gone crazy and weaved a storyline using main plots of a few Bollywood movies and scenes from recent South Indian movies. On the whole, the director has taken audience for a big ride from where it is difficult to come back.
Starting with a 50-year old theme, majority of the scenes are reminiscent of scenes from movies like Race, Wanted, Om Shanthi Om, Chandramukhi, Kondapalli Raja, Simhadri, etc. The story is very complex, the scenes are unrealistic and the climax convoluted. The climax needs a special mention. It ends abruptly and fails to clarify doubts created in the minds of audience till that point. The Chandramukhi spoof falls flat big time. The KING title song is heavily inspired from Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa.
Nagarjuna looks rugged and old. He can retire now. Trisha does her role with ease. Other charecters are just okay. Devi Sri Prasad's music is okay and the background score is forgettable. The camera work and art direction are very naive. Comedy is good in parts. The director was foolish to claim the film as his original work.
On the whole, it was a horrible experience watching King on the big screen.
